My son accuses me of being a "hipster," when he wants to needle me. But he and I know that Loraxs' wives are rarely hip. I may be a science groupie, may be a bit granola, and am certainly a chubby middle-aged bike-riding kayak-paddling gear head. But I am certainly not hip.
I never was a cool kid. In high school people called my friends and I "geeks," but we called ourselves "brains." Being smart then was just not cool. Now that I am older I definitely wouldn't say I am a "brain." I am more of a support-staff kind of person. I take care of the details so the brains working with me can do their thing.
I am certain that when I was young I knew it all. Now that I am middle aged I am intimidated by everything I don't know. Alas, I think my brain is leaking. But let's not dwell, instead below a shot or two from my current life, because being outside is where it's at.
